3M announced on its official website on December 20, 2022 that it planned to stop all PFAS production by the end of 2025. At the same time, 3M informed its relevant customers, including the manufacturers of clean agent fire suppression systems, that they will stop the production of NOVEC 1230 by the end of 2025, because NOVEC 1230 is a by-product of PFAS production process.
